About the event

Join us for a fireside chat about nuclear energy with two special international guests. Nuclear energy is a hot topic right now in Australia, and with all the political spin, it’s hard to separate fact from fiction. We're going to dive into the key facts about nuclear energy and explore why countries around the world are either embracing it or stepping away from it during this pivotal global clean energy transition. So get ready to cut through the noise and uncover the truth because the future of energy matters! Special Guests. Tea Törmänen is the head of global development at WePlanet and a prominent member of the Finnish Green party. Tea helped drive the grassroots movement within the Finnish Green party which led to them being the first Green party in the world to adopt a pro-nuclear position. Ia Aanstoot is a youth climate activist who began her activism as a 14 year old school student striking for climate action as part of the Fridays for Future movement launched by Greta Thunberg. At 18 she launched the Dear Greenpeace campaign, alongside other youth activists and WePlanet, calling on Greenpeace to drop their opposition to nuclear and joined legal action to defend the role of nuclear in Europe against Greenpeace.
